A group of farmers has stepped up its campaign to secure more water for agriculture, installing signs along the Princes Highway

Farms are playing a key role in food supply chains through these current tough times and will continue to play a big part in the economic recovery into the future. Farmers are worried about water security and availability into the future, due to mine fills and a drying climate reducing stream flows. Farmers are calling on the state government to provide access to water that is not currently being used, which was originally set aside for future coal power stations, which will now no longer be built. This water could be used to grow food for Victorians and world markets.

Access to water for best practice irrigation will create jobs for Gippslanders and economic prosperity for our great region.
